ABOUT ME

I'm a licensed clinical psychotherapist in private practice in Lake Grove, NY.  I've been helping individuals improve the quality of their lives in a judgment free and supportive environment for 20 years.

I graduated with my Masters in Social Work from Stony Brook University in 2001. Prior to entering private practice I was a clinician at Pilgrim State, Sagamore Children's Center, St. Catherine's Medical Center, NSLIJ Glen Cove and Stony Brook Hospital.

I typically work from an eclectic background of therapeutic models as no two people are the same and every individual has different needs, perspectives and ways of responding to information.

I've been trained in the Psychodynamic perspective, also known as Insight-Oriented Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT); all therapies which focus on the psychological roots of emotional suffering. Its hallmarks are self-reflection and self-examination. The concept behind these therapies is that once you become aware of negative patterns, which make it difficult to process grief, we can work together to change these patterns and help you find an inner sense of peace and purpose.

In addition to being a LCSW-R, I am a CCTP (Certified Clinical Trauma Professional), CTMH (Clinical Telemental Health Provider) and a Certified Pet Loss Grief Specialist. I am also an active member of the Association for Pet Loss and Bereavement (APLB. ORG) and have completed their training program.

Throughout my 20 years as a therapist I have come to witness and learn that there is a strong correlation between the mind and body and so I also offer, when appropriate, alternative treatment modalities in addition to talk therapy.  I am certified in Reiki, EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques)/Tapping and Mindfulness.
